Space is very limited; call to reserve your seat today!
AGES 5-8: Our youth summer program will incorporate classic art activities: painting, drawing, building activities, origami, etc. It will also incorporate reading, writing, presentations, and specific study topics such as NNAT and CogAT studies. Each two-week program will cover a different theme:
First Program (June 18-29): "Global Landscapes."
This two week session is focused on broadening the artist's perspectives, and creativity through a study of various geographical landscapes and features. We will study countries, forests, deserts, and even deep underwater to see new things! It's a great way to start the summer, and sets the pace for summer time growth and challenges!
Second Program (July 9-20): "Outside the Box."
This two week session is centered around the mysterious contents of a box, which may be filled with various artistic items, such as clay, paints, brushes, a canvas, objects, maybe more ... maybe less. The objective is to create an artistic piece using only the items in the box. There may even be a prize for the winner!
Third Program (July 23-August 3): "Roars, Oinks, and Moooos." A familiar animal theme. Paintings, sculptures, drawings, arts/ crafts -- you name it, you can create it, as long as it's animal related (kinda rhymes!).
Fourth Program (August 6-17): "What's shaping?" Discover how math/ geometry is reflected in art. Participants will explore art through a field trip to the Smithsonian museums, and create their own works in the studio.
